Intuitive Animal Communication

dogonphoneMonday’s show is a call-in show, where you can talk with Bridget, the pet psychic.

Here, Bridget talks about the details that matter:

Pets always give me the details that their parents need to hear. I don’t know which detail matters. Often, they are the most innocuous little things. It can be the color of a sweater, or a favorite place or smell. The clues are tiny.

And then, when I talk with the pet’s owner, I’ll say something, and then I’ll hear a catch in her voice. She’ll suck in her breath. Suddenly, the conversation turns real.

Recently, I talked with a dog that had recently passed away. He showed me a tropical garden, beautiful and lush. He said, “Tell my mom that it’s warm, but it’s not too hot. It’s just right for dogs.” I didn’t know why this would matter. For Gizmo’s mom, this little detail meant the world to her, because they had moved to Florida, and she always worried that it was too hot there for her dog.

I’ve learned to not assume I know what matters.

I hope you’ll join us and call in on Monday at 2 PM PT at 646-200-4979. Remember to press “1″ to get in the queue!

You can hear the show HERE!

Turn-Around Tuesday

On yesterdays radio show we talked about Shitty Little Dog Syndrome.
What is it? How to recognize it? And how to cure it!

Killer_Chihuahua

Bridget has become an expert on shitty little dogs… Kind of ironic because she is the proud owner of 3 well behaved big dogs! But she’s around enough shitty little dogs to know her stuff.

I rescued a shitty little dog a little over a year ago. I am happy to report that Rock Star is now what I term, a recovering shitty little dog.

We let you know the signs that you may be the owner of shitty little dog. Here are a few…

Your dog can’t be around children
Your dog barks like crazy or even bites visitors to your home
Your dog can’t go out in public

We also let you know some cures. …

Treat your dog like a dog! He is not your human child or fashion accessory
Train him to potty only outside
Quit picking him up when he is behaving badly

There are many more signs and tips on the broadcast. If you missed the show, don’t fret! Listen anytime by clicking here. You can also email us or leave a comment here with your questions anytime.

Next week’s broadcast we will be having our monthly ‘Ask the Pet Psychic’ show. Bridget will be answering those burning questions you have for your dog. She can field all types of questions from “Are you in any kind of pain?’ to “Who do you like better, Mom or Dad?” You can call in, email, leave a comment here, or tweet us with your question. This show fills up fast, so the earlier you let us know your question, the better!

Also, next week we’ll have our drawing for Septembers’ winner of our monthly give away! In case you forgot we are giving away a super cool, eco-friendly, guaranteed tough Zisc toy and a set of Olive’s Heroes greeting cards! All who call in, leave blog comments, Tweet, Facebook, or email us comments are automatically entered.
That means it’s not too late for you, so enter now!

Shitty Little Dog Syndrome

There are no shitty little dogs. There are dogs that suffer from Shitty Little Dog Syndrome.

Folks say, “I’ve got a shitty big dog.”

No you don’t. Shitty Big Dogs get put to sleep, because they are scary.

So, little dogs get this bad reputation of being bitey, and snarly and rude. And most little dogs are nice and not that way, but you know, it’s like bad sushi. You experience it once, and you look at raw tuna sideways for the rest of your life.

(Ditto mussels. Ditto Vodka).

So, we’re talking about this on Monday’s Show (at 2 pm Pacific time). What to do if you have a dog with this syndrome. What to do if you encounter one. What the world needs now, is love sweet love and less dogs with shitty little dog syndrome.

I bet you can’t wait to experience all that is Shitty Little Dog Syndrome…

Music for Calming Pets…

So we were at this concert at Melody Saunder’s in Lake Oswego.

Melody is this awesome photographer. She did the pictures of Olive at http://www.olivesheroes.com and also did the pictures of us here.

She was kind enough to invite us to a concert for pets. We were supposed to bring our dogs.

This guy,we tried to look him up on the internets, his name is Mario, and he makes soothing music for pets. We are amazed at how many people there are making music for pets!

So…Naaki, Cherish’s dog, is a cupcake. She is a beautiful, sweet babe.

And Rocky was there too. He’s tiny but tough.

And then there was this dog named “Smoky”, who is really great, but doesn’t like other dogs.

So, Mario started playing, and Smoky (who had been introduced twice to Naaki) decides to take Naaki out.

He drags his owner across the lawn on her back. She loses her shoe in the process. And he starts snapping and growling and biting at Naaki. Time slowed down.

And then Rocky went crazy. He got out of his collar and ran after Smoky and Smoky went, “Wait, what are you?” He stopped and looked confused.

And then Rocky saw how big Smoky was and went, “Yipe, yipe, yipe, yipe, yipe” and ran away.
And at some point the music stopped.

And then we all calmed down. Rocky was an excellent diversion.

So healing music, it’s beyond us.

Thelpful Thursday- The Things We Do For Dogs

Hey- It’s Bridget

It’s not Thursday.
That’s okay. We can rename the days of the week. That’s within our bitch power.

The other night, at my Intuitive Animal Communication Class (next one starts on January 4th, people), one of my students said,
“You’re going to think I’m weird.”

And I said, “Probably not.” She’s a very nice lady in Wisconsin, with teenagers. She lives by a lake. She is kind and sweet and caring about her dog. Nothing weird there.

And she said, “Well, I tuck my dog in at night. I make sure he’s comfortable and I kiss him goodnight and tell him I’ll see him in the morning.”

and there was a pause.

And I said, “So?”

and she said, “Oh.”

and I said, “I do that too. I put a towel over Olive like she’s a parrot. She likes a towel over her head while she sleeps on a pillow by my bed.” I didn’t say, though I should, that the pillow she sleeps on is one I’ve had since I was 5. It’s called Lumpy. I digress.

And another student said, “I do that too. I kiss my dog goodnight and make sure she’s cozy.”

We have rituals with our dogs. The things we make them do (like sitting and waiting for their food), and the things we do for them

I used to have a dog that loved toothpaste, and would run in whenever he heard the bathroom drawer open. He always got a little on his choppers.

I have a dog that likes to jump up and so we dance around the living room together.

My sweetheart has a cat that licks out his tuna can while he makes his daily tuna sandwich (he’s an engineer. He likes routine). The cat thinks he’s a dog, and will sit on command and come when called, so he’s relevant for this blog post.

It’s part of the dog experience. I would love to know what rituals you have.

ruff life!

ruff life!

Cherish says…

I think Bridget tricked me!

When we spoke about this blog post, her phrasing was “embarrassing things we do with our dogs”. Not loving rituals we have with them. So I went with the embarrassing train of thought. Now you can have your laugh of the day on me….

My dog Naaki loves me. She loves me a lot. She can’t stand not to by my side. Wherever I go, Naaki follows.

That includes the bathroom!

That’s right, I very rarely potty alone in my home. Our bathroom door is such that it doesn’t latch tightly unless you lock it, I never take the time to do that! Therefore it is very easy for Naaki to push her way in.

Though it was annoying at first, we established what I call the “Bathroom Rules” to make this ritual more bearable. The “Bathroom Rules” are pretty easy, stay at least a foot away from me and sit down! She’s happy to be with me, I’m happy to have my space.

This rule serves us outside the bathroom as well… It’s great when we are in public and she is a little too excited or hyper. All I say is, “What are the Bathroom Rules?” and I get an instant Sit & Stay! Folks tend to look at us a little strangely…. But hey, we’re used to that!

Have an embarrassing ritual with your dog? Leave us a comment and let us know. I’d hate to feel alone in this!

Don’t forget to listen in Monday at 2:00pm PST for the Return of the Bitches!

And check out our story in the Portland Examiner!
